Ubuntu 10.04: turn off automatic screen lock/disable re-login after computer has been idle
May 10th, 2010
Navigate to:
System -> Preferences -> Screensaver
to open the Screensaver Preferences" dialog box.
Uncheck "Lock screen when screensaver is active" at the bottom of the dialog box.

After installing 10.04 (fresh install) I have been unable to get rid of lock-screen after suspend. I have disabled the preferences-screensaver, and I have disabled it in gconf-editor in Lock and Powermanagement, and even checked “disable lock-screen” in desktop. Nothing works. This was not a problem in 9.10. Any suggestions?

I finally found a solution, but a contradictory one at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1466504
This is obviously a bug.

I would really like to say thanks, but can see that you’ve already been thanked plenty. How about I offer you 100$ in cash and a free car wash? (wax not included)

thanks man
The default time is so small I don’t think it best suits most users at all. In the end its all about the approach though. At least its very easy to disable.

I agree completely! This was one of the very first things I changed on my installation.

Hi,
For some reason, I don’t seem to have a
Screensaver
menu link in System > Preferences.
is there a alternative way to make this work
Mine is a work computer – so maybe IT has disabled it or something.
Thanks
