paper chain
Back in those hazy memory days, before I
learned how to imprint memory with motive,
I remember getting angry, throwing you away.
I wanted to rescue you,
but I wasn’t allowed
to take things
from the
garbage.
You
were gone
forever, but I
could see you there,
in front of my eyes.
I don’t know why you made
such an impression, but ever since, you’ve
come to mind during moments of unbearable sadness.

Nice work. Evocative, bittersweet. I had guessed: a doll – before learning it was a paper chain. Mine is a comic poem this time, about my monster named ‘Megabyte’ =)

I get the place where this poem comes from; I have a few memories like this myself. Nice job.

Are
you sure
that paper chain
was not really a
discarded quadropus of
a banana’s
peel?

I imagine the banana peel and the paper chain are hangin’ out. I bet they stay up late into the night telling stories, playing cards and reminiscing about those strange days in the land of people.
