today
Minutes tiptoed away
and hours
fled,
chased away
as if ravenous
yesterday was
lumbering
behind them.
I met yesterday,
just once.
Night
had fallen
but midnight had
forgotten to
arrive.
Yesterday was
not paying attention;
I was
lost
in thought.
We both turned
around the
moment
we realised
we weren’t alone.
There was
silence
as yesterday
gathered the courage
to ask
me
whether I
could give directions
to tomorrow.
